About the role

Ready to take the next step in your accounting career, with a business that brings stories to the big screen? HOYTS is looking for a Regional Accountant to join our Exhibition Finance team in our Sydney Support office on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Finance Manager – Exhibition, you’ll join a team of Accountants delivering day-to-day accounting services to our cinema division and head office departments. You’ll look after site and departmental accounts, produce accurate reporting, and turn the numbers into insights that help the business make better decisions.

What you’ll be doing

- Reporting: compiling daily, weekly and monthly reporting, including P&L; statements, balance sheet reconciliations and management reports, on time and accurately.
- Analysis and insights: calculating and analysing KPIs, interpreting results, and explaining them clearly to stakeholders who may not have a finance background.
- Stakeholder partnering: working closely with cinema General Managers, regional management teams and head office business units to understand performance and share findings.
- Accurate accounts: making sure transactions are coded to the right accounts and locations, and processing accruals so results reflect what actually happened.
- Balance sheet reconciliations: owning designated balance sheet accounts,



preparing monthly reconciliations with supporting documentation, and flagging anything that doesn’t look right.
- System integrity: monitoring transactions for irregular or suspicious activity and helping reduce financial risk.
- Team support: helping the Finance Manager and wider team with ad-hoc requests and projects.

About you

- Previous accounting or other relevant finance experience
- Completed or currently studying a tertiary accounting qualification
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Solid quantitative reasoning and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the confidence to explain numbers to non-finance people
- A team player with a can-do attitude who works well under pressure
- Experience with SunSystems is a plus
