We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our Tax team in Townsville.

What you’ll do

- Support and manage a portfolio of SME clients across individuals, companies, trusts and group structures.
- Work across tax compliance, accounting and business services while identifying opportunities to provide more proactive advice.
- Build strong, trusted client relationships that go beyond the annual tax cycle.
- Communicate directly with clients by phone, email and face-to-face, turning technical information into clear and practical advice.
- Prepare and review work across areas including tax returns, financial statements, BAS, GST, FBT, CGT and Division 7A.
- Manage your own workflow, priorities, deadlines and WIP to keep jobs moving and clients informed.
- Work collaboratively with your team and the broader Gild business to achieve great outcomes for clients.




- Continue building your technical and commercial skills with support from experienced leaders around you.

What you’ll bring

- Around 6–8 years’ experience in Australian public practice, ideally within a small to mid-sized accounting firm.
- Strong experience working with SME clients across individuals, companies, trusts and group structures.
- Solid technical foundations across BAS, GST, FBT, CGT, Division 7A, tax compliance, financial reporting and general accounting.
- Confidence communicating directly with clients and building long-term relationships.
- A track record that shows commitment, professional growth and a genuine interest in developing your career.
- You don’t need to be a walking master tax guide. What matters is that you know your fundamentals, know when to ask questions and genuinely want to keep learning.
- Strong organisation and ownership. You communicate clearly, deliver reliably and take responsibility when things don’t quite go to plan.
- Experience with Xero, FYI and Microsoft Office, with an openness to learning new systems and better ways of working.
