About the role

South Coast Civil Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced GPS Excavator Operator to join our team on a contract basis. on a 2:1 swing in Newman, WA 6753, where you will operate advanced GPS excavators on civil construction projects. As a GPS Excavator Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring precise earthmoving operations, maintaining high safety standards, and contributing to the successful delivery of our construction projects. This contract role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology whilst utilising your excavation expertise in a mining and construction environment.

Key responsibilities

- Operate GPS-equipped excavators with precision to achieve design specifications and grade requirements on civil construction sites

- Monitor GPS guidance systems and laser-guided technology to ensure accurate excavation and material placement

- Perform routine maintenance checks on excavator equipment, including fluid levels, hydraulic systems, and safety features

- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, surveyors, and other team members to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines

- Maintain accurate records of work completed, material moved, and equipment operating hours

- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, site-specific safety protocols, and safe work method statements

- Identify and report equipment defects or malfunctions to site management promptly

- Operate within designated work zones whilst maintaining awareness of other plant and personnel on site

What we're looking for

- A final trim nationally accredited excavator operator demonstrating competency in final trim excavator operation

- Proven experience operating excavators on civil construction or earthmoving projects,



preferably in the civil, mining or infrastructure sector

- Demonstrated experience with excavator GPS systems

- Good understanding of civil construction drawings, grades, and specifications

- A current and valid driver's licence

- A strong safety record and commitment to zero-harm principles on construction sites

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively with site teams

- Physical fitness and the ability to work in variable weather conditions typical of Western Australia

- Flexibility to work extended hours or shifts as project requirements demand
