READY FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Maybe you're not looking for another OT job. Maybe you're wondering what else your OT career could become.
There are plenty of OT jobs advertising flexibility, professional development, supervision and a supportive team. Honestly, we think those things should be standard. What might make K+C Village different is what your work can become once you're here.
We're an occupational therapy organisation, but we're not trying to become a bigger version of a traditional OT clinic. We care about great therapy. We also care deeply about what happens outside therapy: whether children participate, belong, build relationships and get to be part of their communities.
Watch Charmaine's video. It'll probably tell you pretty quickly whether we're your kind of people.
What would I actually be doing?
You'll provide OT to children, young people and families. Strong clinical practice matters here, depending on your experience, interests and where you want to grow, your work might also involve:
- providing development and support to educators in early childhood and school settings
- supporting children in the places they're actually trying to participate
- coaching parents, educators and the people around a child
- contributing to community inclusion programs
- mentoring or working alongside other therapists
- getting involved in training, partnerships or new programs.
You won't be expected to do everything. The point is that your career here doesn't have to become a bigger and bigger caseload. Some OTs want to deepen their clinical practice. Others become interested in mentoring, community-based work, leadership, training or building something new. There isn't one pathway you're expected to follow.
We're responsible about developing good OTs
K+C is coming up to 18 years in operation, and our Founding Director,
Charmaine Owen, brings 30 years of clinical OT experience working with children, young people and families. Over that time we've developed clear clinical competencies across different levels of practice, so development isn't just an annual PD budget and a supervision meeting in the diary.
Depending on where you're at, support might include supervision, mentoring, coaching, working alongside experienced therapists, reflective practice, working through complex situations together and honest feedback when you need it (and some stretch where you will grow). There's structure when you need it and room to grow beyond it.
We don't want you to become our version of a great OT. We want to help you become yours.
Who tends to do well here?
Curious people. People who ask questions, reflect, take feedback and don't need to pretend they have everything figured out. People who genuinely enjoy partnering with children, families, educators and communities and people who can cope with some change.
We're always learning and trying to improve what we do. If you need every week to look exactly the same or want everything mapped out for you, we probably aren't the right workplace and that's completely OK.
Already been an OT for a while? Great. You might actually be pretty happy where you are, but maybe you've started wondering whether you want the next few years of your career to look exactly like the last few.
Your next step doesn't have to be management and it doesn't have to mean carrying a bigger or more complex caseload. If you're interested in what else you could do with your experience as an OT, we'd genuinely like to talk.
We're also happy to hear from newer OTs who really connect with how we work.

One final thing
If you're an OT, you can probably get a job in plenty of places. The more interesting question is where you'll do your best work and whether you'll still be growing a few years from now.
If something in the video or this ad made you think, "Actually, that sounds a bit like me," let's have a conversation. You don't need to have decided you want the job. No hard sell. Just an honest conversation to work out whether we're a good fit for each other.
