About us

Mayflour Cafe is a well-established local cafe in Westmeadows, known for our specialty cakes and cupcakes, all-day breakfast and quality coffee. We’re looking for a skilled barista to own our coffee station.

The role

You’ll run the machine during our busiest periods and set the standard for every cup that leaves the counter. You’ll also help with front-of-house service when needed.

What you’ll do:

- Prepare espresso-based drinks to a consistent, high standard during peak periods
- Dial in the grinder daily and adjust through the day as conditions change
- Texture milk well for all milk types, including soy, almond and oat
- Manage the docket rail and keep ticket times down during rushes
- Clean and maintain the coffee machine and grinders, including back-flushing and end-of-day cleans
- Take orders, handle payments and serve customers in a friendly, efficient way
- Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
- Help with opening and closing duties, restocking and general cafe tasks

About you

Essential:

- At least 1 year of barista experience in a busy,



high-volume cafe
- Confident dialling in and producing consistent espresso without supervision
- Strong milk texturing and latte art skills
- Able to stay calm, quick and accurate when the queue is out the door
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable and punctual, with a team-first attitude
- Available for early starts from 6:00 am, including weekends
- Full working rights in Australia

Desirable:

- Food Handling certificate
- Experience on a commercial espresso machine in a high-volume setting
- Front-of-house or cash handling experience
- Experience training junior staff
