Disability Support Worker – Meal Preparation & Mental Health Support

About the Role

CarePro is seeking a compassionate, reliable and motivated female Disability Support Worker to support a small number of participants with meal preparation, daily living tasks and mental health support.

The ideal candidate will be confident preparing meals in accordance with specific dietary requirements, particularly gluten-free food preparation, and have experience supporting people living with mental health conditions.

We are looking for someone who is patient, proactive, organised and genuinely passionate about helping participants maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare fresh, nutritious meals while following participants’ dietary requirements.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of gluten-free food preparation, including preventing cross-contamination.
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping and kitchen organisation as required.
- Provide compassionate, person-centred support to participants experiencing mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression and related conditions.
- Encourage independence, choice and participation in everyday activities.
- Maintain a calm, respectful and supportive setting.
- Follow individual support plans, dietary instructions and relevant health and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate progress notes and report any concerns or changes in participants’ wellbeing.
- Comply with CarePro policies, procedures and NDIS requirements.

Essential Requirements

- Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar support role.




- Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health conditions.
- Practical knowledge of gluten-free meal preparation and cross-contamination prevention.
- Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
- A patient, empathetic and respectful approach.
- Ability to work independently and follow support plans and instructions.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Current Working with Children Check, where required for the role.
- Valid Australian work rights.
- Ability to provide all required compliance documents, including relevant training certificates and evidence of qualifications.

Desirable

- Experience supporting participants with complex psychosocial needs.
- Knowledge of food safety, allergen management and special dietary requirements.
- A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle, if required for the shifts.
- Availability for flexible or ongoing shifts.
