Cannabis Doctors Tasmania is expanding its medical team and is looking for registered doctors to join our established telehealth clinic.

We provide medicinal cannabis consultations to patients across Australia living with chronic and complex health conditions. We are a doctor-led, independently owned clinic where clinical decisions are guided by professional judgement, available evidence and the individual needs of each patient.

Our administration team handles the majority of non-clinical tasks, allowing you to focus on consultations and patient care.

We are completely independent of pharmacies, medicinal cannabis manufacturers and product suppliers. The clinic is funded solely through consultation fees, with no commissions, rebates or prescribing incentives.

Flexible hours to suit your lifestyle

Whether you want to work a few hours a week or build a substantial telehealth workload, we can accommodate a range of availability.

This role may suit doctors looking for:

- One or two sessions a week to supplement their existing income
- Evening or weekend work

Appointments are available between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm, seven days a week, giving you considerable flexibility over when you work.

Patient demand is strong, and new doctors can generally build a busy appointment schedule relatively quickly.

Solid earning potential

Doctors are remunerated under a percentage-of-billings arrangement.

Our current consultation fees are:

- Initial consultation – 30 minutes: $139
- Follow-up consultation – 15 minutes: $99





Indicative gross billings are approximately $278 per hour for initial consultations and $396 per hour for follow-up consultations when appointments run consecutively. Actual earnings depend on appointment mix, utilisation and hours worked.

Under our percentage-of-billings arrangement, indicative doctor earnings are approximately $170–260+ per hour, depending on the appointment mix and workload.

As you establish an ongoing patient base, follow-up consultations naturally become a larger part of your schedule.

What will you be doing?

You will provide telehealth consultations for patients with chronic and complex conditions where conventional treatments have not provided adequate symptom control.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Taking comprehensive medical histories and conducting clinical assessments
- Reviewing previous treatments, investigations and relevant medical records
- Assessing whether medicinal cannabis is clinically appropriate
- Developing individualised treatment and management plans
- Monitoring treatment response, effectiveness and adverse effects
- Reviewing patients and adjusting treatment where clinically appropriate
- Communicating with patients' regular GPs and other treating practitioners
- Supporting continuity and coordination of care

You will not need to manage the day-to-day administration of the practice. Our team assists with bookings, patient correspondence, prescription processing and operational tasks, allowing you to concentrate on clinical work.

There is no requirement to prescribe particular brands, products or quantities. You remain responsible for your clinical decisions, supported by established clinical processes and an experienced team.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from doctors who:

- Hold current AHPRA registration appropriate to the role
- Are at least three years post-graduation




- Are confident conducting clinical consultations
- Are comfortable delivering care via telehealth
- Have an interest in chronic disease and complex patient care
- Communicate well and value solid therapeutic relationships
- Are committed to safe, responsible and evidence-informed prescribing

Previous medicinal cannabis prescribing experience is not required.

We provide structured onboarding and training covering the practical and clinical aspects of medicinal cannabis prescribing, with ongoing mentoring and support as you develop your experience.

Applicants must meet the applicable registration, prescribing and regulatory requirements for the work undertaken. The role is open to suitably qualified doctors and is not restricted to general practitioners.
