AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Data Center Construction Director is responsible for managing some of the most technical, cost efficient, and fast paced construction project schedules achievable. We are constantly challenged to continuously improve processes and drive technical efficiencies in data centers and scale outcomes to other projects around the world. We are customer focused problem solvers and managers of diverse stakeholders. We are typically project based, where the work happens, but have regular interface with leadership, partner teams and a wide variety of internal and collaborators. As part of the Construction Management team you will be a part of a highly creative, effective team tasked with tackling a variety of challenges. Our focus is on time, and timely communication.



The AWS Construction Management team is always at the forefront of the construction industry in terms of innovation, and maintain a focus to deliver the most innovative products to our customers. The Construction Director is the leader for the construction and deployment of large-scale AWS campus style data centers. Their scope spans the full project lifecycle, from Project Initiation and through Project Final Handover. Beyond project delivery, the Construction Director influences future AWS data center designs, incorporates operational customer feedback into product improvements, and provides technical leadership during critical operational events and emergency situations. The Construction Director operates in environments where the problem, opportunity, or strategy may not yet be defined. As a subject matter expert in major project delivery and data center construction and deployment, they apply deep technical expertise across Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA), and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines to distill diverse inputs from customers, stakeholders, and market signals into long-term technical strategies as well as Project Execution Plans. The Construction Director reports directly into the Sub-Regional Head of Construction and works closely with Senior Construction Managers (SCMs), Construction Managers (CMs), and Project Coordinators. They work with Construction Programs teams, Controls Managers,



Technical Infrastructure Program Managers (TIPMs), Amazon Commissioning (ACx), Critical Projects Implementation (CPI), and Design Engineering (DE). They influence senior leaders across the organization, presenting technical strategies, trade-off analyses, and investment recommendations directly to Directors and Vice Presidents. The Construction Director owns the project level construction standards and innovation roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that directly support project and organizational capacity delivery, cost-per-megawatt objectives, and sustainability commitments. They provide technical leadership across the large project by defining strategic objectives, establishing technical direction, and delivering outcomes with a high degree of autonomy, judgment, and organizational influence At Amazon we leverage unique opportunities presented to us by owning everything from the substation, to the server, and back to the cooling towers.
