Full-Time | Multi-Species Farming | Real Career Opportunity Minibeasts Enterprises | Bannockburn, VIC Agriculture & Production | $27.08–$32.13/hr + Super | Full-time preferred Minibeasts Enterprises is looking for reliable, hands-on people who want to build a real career in animal production.
We are not a typical farm. We are a multi-species, intensive production facility breeding and supplying millions of live insects and frozen food animals each year to zoos, wildlife centres and pet stores across Australia. You will work with multiple species, including insects and rodents, in climate-controlled production systems where animal care, accuracy, consistency and teamwork matter every day.
This role is a rare opportunity, but it is also practical, physical production work. We are looking for people who are ready to commit, learn and prove they have what it takes to become
Minibeasts material .
Before You Apply — Please Read Carefully This is primarily a
full-time, hands-on production role , not occasional animal-handling work. The role involves regular exposure to live insects, rodents, frozen food animals, bedding, feed, dust, odours, heat and humidity.
We are looking for people who can commit to regular full-time work and who are serious about building a career with Minibeasts. Some casual positions may be considered for the right people, but only where they match business needs.
Your first 12 months should be treated as an
apprenticeship-style training year . You will be learning our animals, systems, standards, workflows and culture. We invest significant time, coaching and supervision into developing the right people, so we are looking for applicants who want to stay, grow and contribute long term.
If you are only available one or two days per week, this role is unlikely to be suitable unless we have a specific casual vacancy available at the time.
Health and Allergy Consideration:
This work environment may not be suitable for people with allergies or sensitivities to insects, rodents, animal bedding, dust, feed products, odours, or similar farming/animal production environments. People with asthma or respiratory sensitivities may also find this environment difficult. Applicants should carefully consider whether they can safely and comfortably work in this type of environment before applying.
The First Year — Your Training Year The first year is about proving consistency, reliability, care, speed, accuracy and ownership.
You will not learn this role overnight. It can take up to six months just to build the foundations, and a full year to become confident across the systems, species and standards expected at Minibeasts.
During this time, you will be supported through structured onboarding, coaching, feedback and hands-on training. In return, we expect strong attendance, coachability, effort, honesty and a willingness to follow systems.
This is a role for people who want to build something — not just try something.
A Real Career Path You will start as an
Animal Production Technician , with pay
$27.08 per hour + super , depending on experience and classification.
Team members who prove the right attitude, reliability, ownership and technical capability can progress toward
Senior Animal Production Technician , currently paid at
$29.45 per hour + super .
Progression is not automatic. It is earned through consistent performance, strong behaviour, practical skill development and contribution to the team.
What the Role Involves As an Animal Production Technician, you will be part of our core production team supporting the day-to-day operation of high-output, high-care animal farming systems.
Your responsibilities may include:
Breeding, feeding, cleaning, harvesting and monitoring multiple species
Working with live insects, rodents and frozen food.
Following detailed production systems and daily workflows
Maintaining animal health, environmental and hygiene standards
Operating basic equipment and using chemicals safely
Completing accurate records and contributing to production targets
Packing and preparing products for dispatch across Australia
Working independently and as part of a team in a rapid-paced environment
This Role Will Suit You If You Can
Commit to regular full-time work
Show up reliably and on time
Work around insects, rodents, animal bedding, dust, feed products, odours, heat, humidity and repetitive tasks
Perform moderate lifting and physical work throughout the day
Follow systems carefully, even when the work is busy
Take feedback without taking it personally
Work at pace while still caring about animal welfare and accuracy
Safely work
