Best Practice Software

and can provide additional support during planned leave, staff absences and busy periods.

About the Role As a Medical Receptionist, you will be an important first point of contact for our patients and help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice.

You will provide professional and compassionate service while managing a busy reception area, appointment bookings, telephone enquiries, billing and general administrative duties.

The successful applicant must be able to step into the role confidently and have previous experience working in a general practice environment.

The position includes casual weekday shifts, with some Sunday availability required. There is

no Saturday work , and Sunday shifts will be paid at the

applicable Sunday penalty rate .

Welcoming patients in a warm, professional and respectful manner

Managing incoming telephone calls and patient enquiries

Scheduling, confirming and updating patient appointments





Processing current patient registrations and maintaining accurate records

Managing patient arrivals and departures

Processing Medicare, private and third-party billing

Receipting payments and balancing transactions

Scanning and allocating incoming correspondence and reports

Communicating with GPs, nurses and other team members

Responding appropriately to urgent patient enquiries

Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality

Completing general reception and administrative duties

Assisting with leave coverage and additional shifts when required

About You To be considered for this position, you must have:

Previous medical reception experience within a

general practice

Demonstrated experience using

Best Practice Software

Knowledge of Medicare billing and general practice processes

Availability to work some Sunday shifts

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A professional, friendly and patient-focused manner

Excellent attention to detail

Strong organisational and time-management skills

The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment

Confidence working independently and as part of a team

A reliable, flexible and proactive approach

A strong understanding of privacy and patient confidentiality
