Sebastopol Primary School was established in 1873 and is located in a residential area on the southern side of Ballarat. The school features an innovative design, with classrooms clustered around a bright central atrium and open-plan learning environments that encourage collaboration, connection and shared learning. The school has a student population of approximately 114 students and proudly supports a diverse and inclusive school community. Many of our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds, and we are committed to ensuring every student is provided with the support, opportunities and high-quality learning experiences they need to succeed. Sebastopol Primary School maintains high expectations for all students. We support our students to develop confidence in their own abilities, a strong sense of personal worth and the skills required to work effectively and respectfully with others. Our core focus is on high-quality teaching and learning that leads to improved student outcomes, with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. Our classroom programs are complemented by a broad range of specialist learning opportunities. Our Specialist Programs are AUSLAN, Art, Music, Physical Education and Science. In addition to our classroom and specialist programs, we provide a range of targeted intervention and wellbeing supports designed to meet the individual needs of our students. These include our Wellbeing Hub and Music Therapy, alongside additional intervention programs that support student learning, engagement and wellbeing. We strive to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels known, valued and supported. We strongly encourage partnerships with our parents,
carers and the wider community and recognise the important role these relationships play in supporting positive outcomes for our students. Sebastopol Primary School uses a School-Wide Positive Behaviour approach to establish clear and consistent expectations across the school and support students to develop positive citizenship and social skills. We also use restorative practices when working through challenges with students and families, with a focus on taking responsibility, repairing harm and restoring and strengthening relationships.
