Exercise Physiologist | Healthy Connections at Burnie Brae
Chermside, Brisbane | Permanent part-time and full-time opportunities available
Help older people build confidence, regain independence and keep doing what they love.
Whether it’s helping someone return to their favourite activity, improve their balance or feel confident moving again, your work can make a lasting difference.
At Healthy Connections, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful client relationships, develop your clinical skills and contribute your ideas alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team.
We’re looking for an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who brings sound clinical thinking, kindness and a collaborative approach. New graduates and experienced clinicians are welcome to apply.
A role with purpose and variety
Healthy Connections is the allied health service of Burnie Brae, a community-focused not-for-profit supporting people across North Brisbane and Moreton Bay to live active, independent and connected lives.
Based at our Chermside clinic, you’ll deliver services in the clinic and clients’ homes, working primarily with older adults, alongside people living with disability and chronic health conditions.
You’ll join around 25 allied health professionals, including Exercise Physiologists with diverse experience, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists,
AHAs and Remedial Massage Therapists. It’s an environment where you can ask questions, share knowledge and work together to achieve better outcomes.
Why join our team?
- Support to develop: Access mentoring, in-house professional development and experienced colleagues who can help you build your clinical confidence.
- Variety in your practice: Combine individual consultations, community visits and group programs.
- Space to explore your interests: Develop areas of clinical interest within the needs of our clients and services.
- A voice in what comes next: Contribute ideas for new programs, resources and service improvements.
- Connection with your colleagues: Share learning through fortnightly team meetings and regular professional development sessions, with cake or a curry making the occasional appearance.
- Opportunities to grow: Explore career development within a growing community organisation.
What you’ll do
- Deliver safe, evidence-based, person-centred exercise physiology services including hydrotherapy and group classes.
- Complete assessments, develop individualised exercise programs and review progress against goals that matter to each client.
- Facilitate community exercise classes and specialised clinical groups, including cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, falls prevention and neurological programs.
- Deliver care across aged care funding programs (CHSP and SAH), NDIS, DVA, Medicare and private services, meeting relevant clinical and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate care and support meaningful client outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and communicate clearly with clients, carers and relevant health professionals.
- Help develop programs and client education resources, with opportunities to contribute to blogs and other service promotion activities.
What you’ll bring
You’re someone who listens carefully, builds rapport and recognises that progress looks different for every person. You take responsibility for your work, welcome feedback and enjoy contributing to a team.
You’ll also need:
- A tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology and current ESSA accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
- An interest in supporting older adults and people living with disability or chronic conditions.
- Solid communication skills and an empathetic, respectful approach.
- Valuable organisation, time management and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, ongoing learning and quality care.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for community visits.
