Veterinary Nurse - Greencross Vets Williamstown
- Part-time
Veterinary Nurse (Part-Time) | Greencross Vets Williamstown | Melbourne, VIC
Love building relationships with clients and being an integral part of the patient journey?
Greencross Vets Williamstown is seeking an experienced Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, with hours open to discussion for the right candidate.
This opportunity is ideal for a nurse who enjoys working closely with both clients and veterinarians, thrives in a consult-focused environment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care through communication, education, and relationship-building.
While you'll still utilise your nursing skills, this role is less focused on surgical nursing and more centred around nurse consulting, client care, patient advocacy, and supporting veterinarians throughout the consultation process.
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people, creating positive client experiences, and helping pets and their families receive the very best care.
Why Greencross Williamstown?
You'll be joining a clinic with depth, stability, and genuine clinical leadership.
Our Veterinary Director brings experience across emergency, specialty, and general practice and is currently undertaking advanced training in small animal medicine. They actively mentor veterinarians and support the development of individual special interests within the clinic.
As a multi-vet clinic, you'll work alongside experienced veterinarians who value collaborative care and recognise the important role nurses play in patient outcomes and client communication.
Regular team meetings and case discussions are part of our culture,
ensuring everyone feels supported, heard, and continuously developing. We're also located close to Greencross Veterinary Hospital (GVH), providing access to specialist support and referral services when needed.
One of the exciting initiatives recently introduced across Greencross is Care Before Contact, a program designed to create safer, lower-stress experiences for our patients, pet parents, and teams. Developed in collaboration with two of Australia's leading veterinary behavioural medicine specialists, Dr Kersti Seksel and Dr Jacqui Ley, the program reinforces our commitment to fear-free, patient-centred care and supports proactive strategies that improve the wellbeing of both pets and the people who care for them.
For nurses who enjoy client communication, patient advocacy, behaviour-focused handling, and building strong relationships with pet owners, this initiative aligns perfectly with the consultative, team-based approach we continue to develop at Williamstown.
Most importantly, we're an inclusive, team-focused workplace where people genuinely enjoy working together. We have an experienced nursing and administration team who support one another every day, celebrate successes together, and make sure nobody goes without coffee, snacks, or encouragement on busy days.
The Clinic & Location
Our recently renovated clinic is spread across two spacious levels and features:
- Contemporary treatment and hospital facilities
- Multiple consultation rooms
- Dedicated surgery and treatment areas
- Dedicated staff room
- Easy access to public transport, including Williamstown Train Station
Located just minutes from the Williamstown Esplanade and beach, the clinic offers an enviable work-life balance, whether it's a lunchtime walk by the water or a coffee at one of the many local cafés.
About the Role
This is a part-time position with flexibility around hours and days for the right candidate.
We're particularly interested in candidates who enjoy the client-facing side of veterinary nursing and are passionate about supporting a team-based consulting model.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting veterinarians during consultations and patient workups
- Undertaking nurse consultations and preventative healthcare discussions
- Building strong relationships with clients and providing ongoing support and education
- Assisting with treatment plans and patient follow-up care
- Supporting medical nursing and patient care
- Handling client enquiries in person, via email, and over the phone
- Scheduling appointments and coordinating patient care
- Admitting and discharging patients
- Managing client accounts and administrative tasks
- Acting as an advocate for both patients and clients throughout their clinic journey
- Supporting reception and front-of-house operations as required
This role is perfect for a nurse who loves the people side of veterinary nursing and enjoys helping clients feel informed,
