We are seeking experienced
Scraper Operators to support Rio Tinto’s Project in Weipa, Far North Queensland.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled operators with a strong background in civil earthworks or mining operations to join a major project on a 2:1 FIFO roster. Successful candidates will be responsible for operating scrapers safely and efficiently while contributing to haul road construction and earthworks activities.
Location: Amrun, Weipa QLD
Roster: 2:1 FIFO | Day Shift | 11–12-hour shifts
Rate: $60 - $70.07/hr (based on experience)
Start: ASAP
Duration: Until December 2026, with potential extension into 2027 based on performance.
Point of Hire: Brisbane or Cairns
Accommodation : Camp accommodation provided
Key Responsibilities

- Operate scrapers safely and efficiently across civil earthworks and haul road construction activities.
- Complete daily pre-start inspections and report equipment defects or hazards.
- Follow site safety procedures, operating standards and instructions from supervisors.
- Work collaboratively with other operators and site personnel to meet production targets.
- Maintain a solid focus on equipment care, productivity and safe work practices.

Essential Requirements





- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating scrapers.
- Demonstrated experience in civil earthworks or mining operations.
- Relevant RII machinery operating ticket.
- Current C Class driver’s licence.
- GPS machine control experience highly regarded.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, MMQ assessment and drug and alcohol screening.
