Fully Remote | International Applicants Welcome Engagement: Independent Contractor | Flexible Assignments About the opportunityA website can pass an automated accessibility check and still be impossible for someone using a screen reader to navigate. At Shifting Lives Accessibility, we're combining technology with real human experience to identify and resolve digital accessibility barriers. We're expanding our international network of Manual Accessibility Auditors and looking for people who are passionate about making digital technology genuinely usable for everyone. What you'll be doing
• Conduct manual accessibility audits of websites, applications and digital platforms.
• Test real user journeys using screen readers and assistive technologies.
• Identify usability barriers that automated accessibility tools may overlook.
• Document findings, including screen recordings, audio evidence and practical recommendations.
• Collaborate remotely with our accessibility and development teams.
• Gain access to our internally developed accessibility software, using our tools to support auditing, testing and reporting workflows.
• Contribute directly to the ongoing development of our accessibility software by providing real-world testing feedback, identifying improvements, suggesting new features and helping validate functionality from an assistive technology user's perspective.
• Essential requirementsApplicants must be proficient in at least one of the following:
• Apple VoiceOver (macOS or iOS)
• Google TalkBack (Android)
• Microsoft Narrator (Windows)
• JAWS
• NVDA Additional

• Strong practical understanding of screen-reader navigation and accessibility.
• Ability to communicate audit findings clearly in written English.




• Comfortable with screen and audio recording during audit sessions for reporting and quality assurance, with appropriate privacy safeguards.
• Reliable internet connection and access to suitable testing equipment.
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
• Willingness to test, evaluate and provide constructive feedback on our evolving accessibility software. Formal accessibility qualifications, WCAG knowledge and IAAP certifications are highly regarded but not mandatory. We particularly encourage applicants with lived experience using assistive technology. Ideally, you'll be open to:
• Creating short-form videos discussing digital accessibility, assistive technology and everyday accessibility challenges.
• Recording screen-sharing demonstrations showing how screen readers interact with websites and applications.
• Sharing your experiences, insights and expertise through your professional social media channels.
• Collaborating with our marketing team to develop engaging, educational content. We'll help you turn your knowledge into an audience. For interested contractors, Shifting Lives can provide:
• Content strategy: Topics, creative direction and guidance to help build your professional profile.
• Video production: Editing your self-recorded footage and screen recordings into polished, publication-ready content.
• Social media management:



Optional assistance managing and publishing content across your channels, with your approval.
• Paid advertising: Shifting Lives will provide advertising budgets to promote selected content and help expand your reach.
• Performance tracking: Clients acquired through your attributed social media content and campaigns will be tracked.
• Bonus commissions: Earn additional commission when your attributed content generates qualifying paying clients, subject to agreed terms. This is an chance to develop your professional presence in the accessibility industry while working alongside a growing accessibility services business. Participation in content creation and social media activities is preferred but not essential to be considered for auditing assignments.
