Senior PR Manager | TCS Sydney Marathon (Pont3) Join the team powering one of the world's fastest growing major marathons The TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS is Australia's largest marathon and a legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, delivering significant economic impact for New South Wales and breaking national fundraising records. We are looking for a Senior PR Manager to help shape the story of one of Australia’s fastest-growing global sporting events. This is a rare opportunity to build a serious career in sport, working with world-class athletes, global brands, and national media. The Role Reporting to the Head of PR, you will provide senior account service across our most significant commercial and charity partnerships, lead the talent program, and bring creative thinking to the campaigns that carry the event to a national and international audience. You will also manage and mentor the PR Manager as the team scales. This is a role for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. While focused on the TCS Sydney Marathon, you will also support other Pont3 initiatives, including the Real Insurance Harbour 10 and We Run.

Key Responsibilities
• Partner & Charity Service: Manage PR relationships with major commercial and charity partners, develop proactive campaign ideas, and pitch high-profile coverage across national and consumer media.
• Talent Management: Drive the talent program day-to-day, from recruitment discussions to pitching and briefing talent, coaches, and elite athletes; manage contracted social output and deliverables.
• Media Strategy: Lead proactive media strategy alongside the Head of PR, pitch senior media contacts, and draft high-level materials (releases, Q&As;, briefing notes).
• Event Operations: Support comprehensive PR planning for event week (run sheets, schedules, media calls), and oversee media accreditation, creator programs, and Media Centre operations.
• Crisis Communications: Support the Critical Incident and Race Day Communications Plan,



act as a senior escalation point, and oversee issues monitoring.
• Reporting & Leadership: Oversee monthly and campaign reporting, turning data into strategic recommendations; manage and mentor junior team members. About You
• 5–7 years' experience in PR, communications, media, or journalism (agency or in-house sport/events/lifestyle preferred).
• Demonstrated experience servicing major commercial partners or clients at a senior level.
• Experience managing or mentoring a direct report.
• Robust understanding of the media landscape with established contacts at the editor and producer level.
• Experience managing talent or high-profile individuals and negotiating contracted deliverables.
• Proven ability to plan and deliver PR within a live event environment (run sheets, site visits, race-day execution).
• Confidence turning media monitoring data (e.g., Meltwater) into actionable insights.
• Sound judgment and composure in high-pressure or reputationally sensitive situations.
• Desirable: Knowledge of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, international media experience, and project management tools like Monday.com. Working Requirements
• Sydney-based; requires extended hours, weekends, and public holidays during key events.
• Required to work at designated events and run clubs (up to 10 additional days/year).
• Comfortable working on-site at events, including early starts and time on foot.
• Leave Blackout: August through mid-September (max 4 consecutive days of leave allowed due to event delivery workload). Why Join Us
