Horseshoe Bay Cafe’ is seeking a

Qualified Chef

to join our culinary team in Bowen, QLD. This is a

casual position

for an immediate start, that offers flexibility whilst allowing you to contribute to our kitchen operations. Whether you are a fully qualified chef looking for casual work or an apprentice in the final stages of your training, this role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic hospitality environment. You will be based in Bowen and will be part of a team dedicated to delivering quality food and excellent service to our guests.

Key responsibilities

Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and plating standards

Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness in the kitchen

Assisting with food preparation, including chopping, marinating and portioning ingredients

Working collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods

Following standardised cooking methods and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency

Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering where required

Contributing to the development and refinement of menu items

Supporting the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff where applicable

What we’re looking for

Completed culinary apprenticeship or equivalent qualification as a chef, or current 3rd or 4th year apprentice undertaking formal training

Sound knowledge of food safety,



hygiene standards and kitchen best practices

Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques and knife skills

Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced kitchen environment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent quality

Good communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team

Flexibility and reliability in a casual working arrangement

Current food handling or equivalent certification is advantageous

Experience in a commercial kitchen environment is preferred
