Arafura is developing the Nolans Project, Australia’s first ore-to-oxide integrated processing facility in the Northern Territory, a greenfield operation producing the rare earths that will enable the global energy transition and future facing technologies. We are moving into delivery and construction, and we are looking for a Senior Advisor reporting to our Site Health and Safety Manager to lead field verification for the Owner’s Team on site, and to step up as Arafura’s senior safety person on site when the Manager is away. This is an on site FIFO role based at Nolans, on the ground where the work is happening. Nolans is being built under an EPCM model with a small Owner’s Team. Our EPCM and its contractors do the work and are responsible for the safety of their own people. This role verifies in the field how our EPCM implements the Project Safety Systems and processes and how their contractors work to them. You will hold Arafura's authority to stop work where safety requires it, and you carry Arafura site duties when the Manager is away. What you’ll deliver
• A planned program of field verification and critical control verification across the Areas, weighted to the highest consequence risks in support of the Health and Safety Manager




• Field evidence that our EPCM’s safety systems are working in practice, and that contractors are working to approved processes, management plans and permits
• Findings raised promptly with our EPCM, and follow-up on site to confirm the fixes are working
• Clear, accurate field records that give the Health and Safety Manager a reliable view of findings, trends and emerging risks
• Senior safety cover on site as required when the Site and or Health and Safety Manager are away What you’ll bring
• 5 to 8 years’ experience in health and safety on major resources, infrastructure, energy or industrial construction projects
• Experience verifying contractor safety performance in the field, ideally on EPCM led projects
• Strong knowledge of work health and safety legislation and duties, including Northern Territory requirements and the duties of a Principal Contractor and PCBU
• Experience with critical control verification and high consequence construction risk
• A Diploma of Work Health and Safety or higher
• Able to hold a explicit line on standards and accountability whilst building trusting relationships and credibility with stakeholders. If this role sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
