DFP is an established recruitment company with 45 years in the Australian market, a stable leadership team and the backing of a global organisation. We’re looking for a driven, commercially minded Finance Manager to work alongside our CFO and lead a capable finance team.

This is a genuine 2IC opportunity for someone who has built strong foundations in management or commercial accounting and is ready to broaden their influence across a business. You may be a Finance Manager, Commercial Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant ready for greater scope. We’re looking for a clear track record of progression, improving how things work, leading people well and bringing commercial insight that goes beyond the numbers.

The opportunity

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have a broad remit across financial and management accounting, commercial analysis, cash flow, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, controls and the operational leadership of our finance function. The role also has exposure and breadth beyond a conventional accounting role. You will oversee AP, AR, billing and accounts while working closely with our Senior Management Accountant. We want someone who asks “How could we do this better?” and then has the initiative to make it happen.

You will work alongside the CFO on business-wide projects and have the opportunity to:

- manage month end and work with the CFO and Senior Management Accountant to manage and improve the reporting process.
- manage quarterly and annual audit processes.
- prepare sales and margin reconciliation to ensure integrity in financials
- provide meaningful commercial analysis
- find smarter, more efficient ways for Finance to operate
- streamline and automate processes, including through responsible use of AI




- improve Power BI dashboards, reporting and management information
- identify cost opportunities and support commercial negotiations
- strengthen systems, processes and internal controls
- develop the finance team and lift the quality of its contribution across DFP

Who we're looking for

You’re a CA or CPA with solid management or commercial accounting experience and experience leading a finance team. More importantly, your career so far tells a story. You’ve progressed. You’ve put your hand up for things. You’ve improved a process rather than simply inherited it. You can analyse a P&L;, but you’re equally interested in why the result occurred and what the business should do next.

You’ll bring

- strong (8-10 years) management accounting and analytical capability preferably within a professional services environment
- experience leading, developing and getting the best from a team
- genuine commercial judgement and curiosity
- evidence that you’ve implemented efficiencies or improved processes
- confidence working with senior stakeholders
- strong Excel capability and exposure to Power BI
- experience and interest in automation, systems and smarter ways of working
- the ability to take ownership of projects and carry them through
- the confidence to challenge constructively and contribute ideas
