About the role

Wallace International is seeking an experienced Import Export Operator to join our dynamic team based in Tullamarine, VIC. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced import/export environment where attention to detail and compliance expertise are paramount.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the critical operations that ensure goods move seamlessly across international borders. You will play a vital part in maintaining Wallace International's reputation for reliability and regulatory excellence, working with customs documentation, freight forwarding systems, and international trade regulations on a daily basis.

Key responsibilities

- Processing and preparing import and export documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and commercial invoices

- Co-ordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to ensure smooth clearance of goods

- Verifying shipment details against orders and purchase documents to ensure accuracy and compliance

- Managing duty and tariff classifications using appropriate commodity codes and trade nomenclature

- Liaising with customers and internal stakeholders to track shipments and resolve any documentation issues

- Maintaining accurate records of all import and export transactions for audit and compliance purposes

- Staying current with changes to customs regulations, trade agreements, and international shipping requirements

- Resolving discrepancies and delays in a timely and professional manner

- Entering transaction data into import/export management systems and maintaining database accuracy

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as an Import or Export Operator or in a similar logistics role

- Proficiency with import/export management systems and data entry





- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation handling

- Solid understanding of INCOTERMS, air and sea freight requirements

- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a quick-paced environment

- Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Experience with freight forwarding or logistics software platforms (preferred)
