About the role

As General Manager of Gubbins Mitre 10 Mittagong, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the site, driving best practice across all areas of the business. From sales and customer service to team development, stock management, and safety, you'll play a key role in building a high-performing operation and team. You'll lead by example, set clear expectations, and drive a positive, accountable team culture where everyone takes pride in what they do.

Key responsibilities

- Driving Sales & Growth: Build sales performance across Trade, Paint and Garden, identify new opportunities and developing strong, long lasting relationships with our customers. You will work to achieve, if not exceed your sites trade and retail annual sales targets.

- Delivering Outstanding Customer Service: Ensure every customer receives friendly, knowledgeable, and reliable service, whether they're a tradie on a deadline or a retail customer tackling their next project.

- Building a Winning Team: Recruit, coach, mentor and develop your people, creating a team that is engaged, skilled, motivated, and committed to delivering great results.

- Leading Site Safety & Compliance: Champion a protected workplace by ensuring company policies, procedures and safety standards are followed every day.

- Owning Site Operations: Keep the site organised, clean and efficient, with strong processes across stock control, replenishment, customer orders, goods inwards and delivery coordination.

- Managing Performance: Plan rosters, manage labour costs and overtime, monitor attendance, and hold the team accountable to agreed standards.





- Getting the Details Right: Stay on top of reporting, stock accuracy, customer orders, supplier deliveries, and daily operational requirements.

- Driving Best Practice: Continuously look for ways to improve processes, lift standards, and make the site safer, more productive and more customer focused.

About you

- Proven experience in hardware, building supplies or a similar operational environment.

- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop and hold a team accountable.

- A business mindset, with a track record of driving sales and delivering results.

- A strong customer-first attitude and the ability to build lasting customer relationships.

- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

- An understanding of day-to-day site operations including stock control, inventory, and logistics.

- A commitment to workplace health and safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

- Clear communication skills, a positive attitude, and the confidence to lead by example.

- Experience with staff rostering, performance management, incident reporting, and forklift operations will also be highly regarded.
