A Brisbane-based technology company is seeking an Engineering Lead - Edge Engineering. You will lead an agile product team delivering robust edge software, combining hands-on C++ or Rust and Linux engineering with technical leadership.

Join a product development team building software for edge environments where performance, reliability and efficient use of compute, memory and network resources matter. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role, balancing delivery with technical direction and team development.

You will work closely with a product manager to shape product outcomes, guide architecture and help an agile team deliver working software each sprint. The role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys staying close to the code while mentoring others and improving engineering practices.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead an agile product team in partnership with a product manager and product designer

Contribute hands-on to production components, services and APIs using C++ or Rust on Linux

Guide modular, extensible, scalable and resilient software design

Support delivery across development, maintenance, integration and automated testing

Promote DevOps, SRE, CI/CD automation, peer review and coding standards

Help evaluate technology and process improvements across the product development group





Mentor and coach engineers while encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement

Document outcomes and develop repeatable, automated engineering practices

What You'll Need (Essential)

Production software development experience with C++ or Rust

Experience developing, deploying and debugging software on Linux

Experience leading or guiding an agile software team working against a backlog and sprint goals

Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration and resilient service design

Experience with DevOps or SRE practices, including build, test, deployment and operational automation

Familiarity with APIs and integration technologies such as REST, gRPC, Protobuf, serial I/O or HDLC

Solid problem-solving, communication and technical leadership skills

Nice to Have

Experience working with constrained compute, memory or network environments

Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins or Artifactory

Experience with automated unit, emulation or other software testing frameworks

Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering communities of practice

Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science

The Details

Rate or Salary: $160-170k plus Super

Duration and type: Fixed term contract 18 months

Location and work arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days in office
