We are looking for an experienced SDH Planning Engineer to support the planning, design, capacity management, migration, and decommissioning of SDH transmission networks.

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced SDH Planning Engineer to support the planning, design, capacity management, migration, and decommissioning of SDH transmission networks.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and design

SDH/SONET transmission networks , including capacity upgrades, new links, circuit provisioning, and network expansions.

Develop

HLD/LLD, network diagrams, MOPs, and implementation plans

for network changes and migrations.

Perform

capacity planning and network optimisation

based on traffic and utilisation requirements.

Plan and execute

circuit migrations, traffic re-homing, node upgrades, and SDH-to-packet migrations

with minimal customer impact.

Conduct detailed

audits of legacy SDH network nodes and circuits prior to decommissioning , validating traffic, dependencies, and connectivity to ensure no active services are impacted.

Coordinate with

NOC, operations, engineering, project teams, field teams, and vendors

for implementation and migration activities.

Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex transmission planning and implementation issues.





Maintain accurate

network topology, circuit records, and planning documentation .

Ensure designs and changes comply with network standards, engineering guidelines, and operational processes.

Technical Skills & Experience

Robust experience in

SDH/SONET network planning and engineering .

Good knowledge of

STM-1/4/16/64, SDH protection, multiplexing, cross-connects, and transmission principles .

Experience with

network capacity planning, circuit provisioning, migrations, and decommissioning .

Experience with SDH vendors such as

Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, or Cisco .

Understanding of

Ethernet over SDH, DWDM/OTN, and packet transport technologies

is desirable.

5+ years of relevant telecommunications transmission experience

preferred.

Strong analytical, documentation, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.
