About Galilee School
Galilee School is a registered, independent Secondary and Senior Secondary school designed specifically for disengaged and vulnerable young people in Years 7-12, in the ACT and surrounding areas for whom the mainstream schooling environment has struggled to deliver positive outcomes.

As a Special Assistance School, we employ a team of highly skilled educators, youth workers and support staff. We provide students with a quality education aligned with the Australian Curriculum and the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (ACTBSSS)

- Each student is involved in the development of their Individual Learning Plan designed to ensure that learning is targeted to their zone of proximal development and that the long-term and short-term goals of students, parents/carers, and school are aligned.
- We provide training, skill development and job ready support for students transitioning to the workforce or to further educational opportunities.

About the role
As a member of the Teaching and Learning Team you will be working closely to develop and implement lessons and programs in line with the Australian Curriculum, and ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (if appropriate) curriculum, our Teaching and Learning Framework, and our Student Support Framework. You will work, under the guidance and support of our Head of Teaching and Learning. We are committed to staff continuing professional learning and development to build and support quality teaching.





Teaching Mathematics at Galilee School offers a meaningful opportunity to help young people build confidence, practical life skills and a stronger sense of what they are capable of achieving. While the role will have a Senior Secondary focus, there will also be opportunities to work with students across Years 7–12, supporting those who may have found Mathematics challenging in the past as well as students who enjoy the subject and are ready for further challenge. This is a rewarding role for a teacher who can make Mathematics feel accessible, purposeful and connected to students’ futures.

We believe in the capacity of our young people to find success, even if this has proven elusive to them in other contexts. In partnership with the rest of our school staff and community our teachers support our students in their day-to-day studies and activities at Galilee School as they pursue their personal goals and their individualised objectives for learning.

Our staff are passionate about supporting young people to succeed in education where they haven’t experienced it in the past. Teachers enjoy the opportunity to connect with students in smaller classes and with support in the classroom as well as from the Student Support Team.
