Location Profile

St Kilda Park Primary School, founded in 1882, is a highly regarded inner-suburban bayside school located on Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, within Albert Park Reserve. St Kilda is a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood with a solid sense of community. As of October 2026, the school has an enrolment of 310 students. The school’s facilities include its original two-storey heritage building, together with a range of additional buildings and facilities developed over its long history. These include flexible teaching spaces, a library, a multipurpose centre and specialist learning spaces, including a kitchen and garden. The school also works closely with Parks Victoria to use the adjoining ovals and parkland, complementing its existing play areas and increasing opportunities for physical activity and sport. Teaching and learning at St Kilda Park Primary School are grounded in educational research, cognitive science and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. We are committed to a consistent, low-variance approach to high-quality classroom instruction, while ensuring teaching remains responsive to the needs and progress of individual students. Our agreed instructional practices include explicit teaching, careful sequencing of new material, teacher modelling, guided practice, regular review and retrieval, purposeful questioning and frequent checks for understanding. Teachers use these checks, together with assessment evidence, to adapt their instruction and provide additional support or challenge. These whole-school practices are designed to reduce unnecessary cognitive load, maximise successful learning time and ensure that all students make strong and sustained progress. We believe that knowledge is what students think with. With this in mind,

we are committed to providing a coherent, knowledge-rich curriculum in which foundational, enabling and problem-solving knowledge is deliberately developed as students progress through each stage of their education. The impact of this approach is reflected in our excellent student learning outcomes. In 2026, St Kilda Park achieved its strongest NAPLAN results to date, with students outperforming both Similar Schools and the Beachside Network across every assessed domain in Years 3 and 5. These results reflect the expertise and collective commitment of our staff, as well as our sustained focus on evidence-based curriculum, assessment and instruction. The school has 15 classes from Foundation to Year 6. Students participate in a broad and rich curriculum, including weekly specialist programs in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Italian, Physical Education and STEM/Science. Our Year 3 and 4 students also participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Additional teachers provide targeted tutoring and intervention as part of the school’s multi-tiered approach to supporting student learning. Our staffing structure includes a Principal, two Assistant Principals, a Business Manager, an Office Manager, classroom and specialist teachers, and a team of Education Support staff. The school also engages allied health and wellbeing professionals to support students with additional needs. Our vision is to build a nurturing,

inclusive and high-expectations culture in which strong relationships provide the foundation for rigorous learning. We aim to create classrooms where students feel safe, supported and challenged to work hard and achieve excellence. Four core values guide community life, teaching and learning at St Kilda Park Primary School: Pride, Kindness, Perseverance and Creativity. These values are reflected throughout school life and contribute to a shared sense of purpose across our community. The school values student voice, authentic leadership opportunities and the individuality of every member of our community. Teachers are addressed by their first names, and students do not wear a school uniform. Families are actively involved in school life, and parent participation is encouraged and welcomed in many different ways. Student wellbeing is supported through a positive and preventative whole-school approach. The school explicitly teaches expected behaviours and uses restorative practices and logical consequences to build responsibility, strengthen relationships and maintain calm, safe and focused learning environments. Our professional learning program is designed to continually strengthen teachers’ knowledge, judgement and instructional practice. We recognise that teaching is a complex profession requiring sustained opportunities for learning, practice, feedback and reflection. Built on a foundation of trust and collective responsibility, our teachers work collaboratively, observe and learn from one another, and use evidence of student learning to refine their practice. Applicants should be willing to contribute to this professional culture and committed to the consistent implementation of the school’s agr
