As Australia’s largest raw sugar manufacturer and a top 10 global producer, Wilmar Sugar & Renewables runs eight sugar mills across North Queensland. We are also one of the nation’s largest generators of renewable electricity from biomass, a major producer of bioethanol, the largest sugarcane grower, and a key supplier of sustainable fertiliser and stockfeed.

About the Role

As a Senior Design Engineer - Structural, you will play a key role within Wilmar Sugar & Renewables' Central Design Team, providing technical leadership and expert structural engineering support across our sugar manufacturing, bioethanol, cogeneration and transport operations. Working closely with internal stakeholders, external consultants and international design teams, you will lead the delivery of safe, compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions that support the long-term sustainability and performance of our assets. This role offers the chance to influence major projects, mentor emerging engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering capability across the business. The position can be based at one of our manufacturing sites or within our Townsville office and may be considered on a full-time or flexible part-time basis for the right candidate

Role Responsibilities





- Ensure structural design activities are undertaken in accordance with RPEQ and other design legislative compliance requirements across the business.
- Utilise risk assessment methodologies and the hierarchy of controls to effectively mitigate business risk throughout the design phase.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture where teams strive to continuously improve through collaboration and innovation.
- Challenge technical requirements and identify innovative solutions to deliver cost effective design solutions.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships that support challenging our technical requirements and identifying innovative design solutions.
