About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading aviation charter services provider specialising in fixed-wing and rotary-wing operations. They are seeking an experienced ICT Network & Systems Administrator to join their team in Nundah, Brisbane.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable, security-focused IT professional who enjoys working autonomously, solving problems on the fly, and taking ownership of critical IT infrastructure.

With a small ICT team supporting a business of approximately 450–500 employees, this role is ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility, thinks quickly under pressure, and can confidently manage competing priorities.

? About the Role

You will play a key role in maintaining and securing our client’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on Fortinet firewall security, Microsoft Azure virtual Windows Servers, and Veeam backup solutions for Microsoft 365.

Key Responsibilities

? Network Security & Fortinet Firewalls

- Configure, manage and maintain Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and security policies.
- Manage VPN solutions, including site-to-site and remote access.
- Monitor network traffic,



identify potential threats and respond to security incidents.
- Conduct firewall audits, configuration reviews and security updates.

? Microsoft Azure & Windows Server Administration

- Plan, deploy and manage virtual Windows Servers within Microsoft Azure.
- Perform system maintenance, patching, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
- Apply cloud security best practices, including access controls, encryption and system hardening.
- Utilise PowerShell, Azure CLI and ARM templates to automate and streamline server management.
- Monitor resource utilisation and ensure the reliability and scalability of the Azure environment.

? Veeam Backup & Microsoft 365

- Administer and maintain Veeam backup solutions for Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures and ensure data protection processes are operating effectively.
- Perform data restores and support recovery requests.
- Maintain accurate backup documentation, recovery procedures and reporting.

? Technical Support & Infrastructure Improvement

- Provide high-level technical support across network security, cloud infrastructure and backup systems.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and minimise disruption to business operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on infrastructure upgrades, security initiatives and IT projects.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and provide regular updates to management.

? About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Strong hands-on experience managing Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, VPNs and network security policies.




- Proven experience administering virtual Windows Server environments in Microsoft Azure.
- Practical knowledge of cloud security, access management and infrastructure optimisation.
- Experience with Veeam backup and recovery solutions for Microsoft 365.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and respond effectively under pressure.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to prepare for field-based tasks and ensure the necessary IT equipment and resources are available.
- The ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- On call once a month

Bonus points if you have:

- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications, such as Fortinet NSE, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Veeam certifications.
- Experience using PowerShell, Azure CLI and ARM templates for automation.
