Role Description The Senior Urban Planner is a full time, on-site role based in the Greater Sydney Area. This role involves leading and managing complex urban planning projects from concept through implementation, including land use strategies, master planning, and policy development. The Senior Urban Planner will conduct site and regional analyses, prepare planning reports, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and present recommendations to clients, councils, and community groups. Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and planning frameworks, and contributing to stakeholder and community consultation processes. The role also requires collaborating closely with internal designers and external partners to integrate planning outcomes with broader urban design and environmental objectives.
Qualifications





- Candidates should possess strong Urban Planning and Planning skills, with experience in preparing strategic plans, policies, and development assessments.
- Candidates should possess Regional Planning skills, including understanding of metropolitan and regional growth strategies and infrastructure planning.
- Candidates should possess Environmental Planning skills, with the ability to address sustainability, environmental impact, and resilience in planning projects.
- Candidates should possess Land Use Planning skills, including zoning analysis, land suitability assessments, and development control frameworks.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in leading complex planning projects in an urban context, ideally within the Greater Sydney Area or comparable metropolitan region.
- Solid knowledge of local planning legislation, policies, and approval processes, and ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and present to stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Experience with GIS or other spatial analysis tools, and proficiency in standard office and collaboration software.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, mentor junior staff, manage competing priorities, and meet project deadlines.
