About The Role

Independent Pharmacies of Australia (IPA) is looking for a passionate, commercially minded Category Manager to lead our Beauty portfolio, with a focus on skincare and cosmetics. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who lives and breathes beauty, understands emerging trends, and is passionate about delivering inspiring product ranges that help independent pharmacies compete and grow. Working closely with leading beauty brands and suppliers, you'll develop and execute category strategies that drive sales, maximise profitability, and create compelling in-store and promotional experiences for our members. At IPA, our purpose is to support independence, unify pharmacy, and empower our members to thrive so they can make a meaningful impact in their communities. As our Beauty Category Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of beauty within community pharmacy, ensuring our members have access to the right brands, the right products, and the right strategies to meet the evolving needs of today's beauty customer.





Role & Responsibilities

- Develop and execute strategic category plans that drive sales growth, profitability, and member satisfaction.
- Lead pricing, promotion, and product assortment strategies to enhance competitiveness across community pharmacies.
- Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers and wholesalers, including leading negotiations and contracts.
- Develop Joint Business Plans and conduct quarterly, yearly, and planning meetings with key suppliers.
- Monitor category performance using data-driven insights and adjust strategies to meet financial and strategic targets.
- Drive supplier income through promotional initiatives and collaborate closely with the marketing team to maximise opportunities.
- Oversee retail pricing to ensure competitiveness and maintain strong category margins, including recent product development.
- Manage inventory levels, discontinued lines, and stock allocation in partnership with the Demand Planner.
- Lead, mentor, and support the Category Assistant, fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and accountability.
- Uphold and promote health, safety, and wellbeing practices in line with IPA policies and organisational values.

Skills & Experience

- 5–8+ years’ experience in category management, procurement, merchandising, or a related commercial role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build and manage supplier relationships.
- Excellent financial acumen with experience analysing category performance, sales data, pricing, and margins.
