What does a Landfill/Transfer Station Attendant do? As a Landfill/Transfer Station Attendant, you'll help customers dispose of waste safely and correctly while supporting the day-to-day operation of Council's waste facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Assess incoming waste loads and direct customers to the correct disposal or recycling area
- Operate the weighbridge, tablets and waste recording systems
- Process customer payments and issue receipts
- Provide advice on the correct disposal and recycling of waste materials
- Assist with general site operations and housekeeping duties
- Help maintain a safe environment for staff, contractors and visitors
What we're looking for
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A practical, hands-on approach to work
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A strong commitment to safety
- Reliability and a good work ethicAbility to undertake physical work in an outdoor environment
- Able and willing to undertake plant training
It would be outstanding (but not essential) if you have
- Experience in customer service
- Experience operating a weighbridge or similar system
- Experience handling cash and EFTPOS transactions
- Experience working in waste management, construction, transport, civil works, farming or similar industries
Requirements
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Legal right to work in Australia
