Software Engineer (Fintech)

About Us
Earnr is a non-bank savings platform built by former leaders at Australia’s major banks. With banks skewed to favour borrowers over savers, and boutique investment groups catering to a privileged few, we put savers at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is simple: to help Australian consumers and businesses optimise the return on every dollar, safely. We give Australians access to cash management tools and a range of income accounts offering returns of up to 7.35% p.a. Powered by our proprietary in-house technology, we’ve handled hundreds of millions of dollars in savings flows for home-savers, individuals, businesses, trusts, SMSFs, and fund managers. But we’re just getting started. We’re hiring a small number of exceptional people to help take Earnr to more Australians
- and become the number one platform Australian consumers and businesses turn to for their savings.

About the role
This role is for a product-focussed engineer who loves seeing the direct impact of their work. What you ship moves real money, serves real customers, and materially helps Australians manage their savings. This role collaborates closely with leadership, and is involved from strategy, ideation and design, through implementation and delivery. You’ll understand why something is being built before writing a single line of code and you’ll get variety, working across our entire architecture and full range of services including:
• Onboarding service
• Payments and reconciliation service
• Customer service (online and mobile applications)
• Account ledger and processing service
• Data management service Day to day you’ll:
• Build new products, features and functions across Earnr’s consumer-facing platform
• Improve, evolve and scale the architecture that powers our services
• Drive AI powered customer features and internal processes that multiply output, and improve customer outcomes
• Contribute to architectural and data management decisions across our entire stack
• Work within our automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices

• Collaborate in teams with our partner banks, and other regulated industry participants About you You have founder-like energy and want to build in a place where your work is meaningful, visible, and used at scale. You are:
• Product-focussed – you understand why you’re building something and have worked across the full product lifecycle, from discovery and design through architecture, implementation, and monitoring.
• Comfortable operating in a small, high-performing scale-up team; and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• AI native in how you work – leveraging models and agents as a multiplier to build faster, improve quality, and automate aggressively.
• Precise and disciplined – we carry enormous responsibility with what we do – ‘almost right’ is not acceptable.
• Equally strong operating wide and deep – you get across data structures, services, event flows and infrastructure to ensure what you build fits, scales, and strengthens the system.
• Interested in financial services, how modern systems outperform legacy institutions, building at the forefront of AI-native software products. Skills and experience
• 4+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer in startups or scaleups, preferably within financial services.
• Demonstrated experience in writing clean code, design patterns, and test-driven development.
• Experience using AI in your day-to-day work to increase speed, quality, and leverage
• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Solid experience building with React, Angular, and Next.
• Comfortable working with Tailwind or experience with similar CSS frameworks.
• Designing and integrating APIs
- GraphQL and REST.
• Experience with both non-relational and relational databases.

• Designing and maintaining data for efficient queries and high availability across relational & non-relational databases.
• Experience building or working within serverless and event-driven systems.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred).
• Experience working with automated deployment pipelines and modern release workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or IT systems (or alternate degree if you can demonstrate all the skills and experience). Nice to have:
• Domain experience in savings, investments, payments, trading platforms.
• Experience orchestrating agents for parallel code development workflows.
• Knowledge of AI concepts such as embeddings, retrieval techniques, prompt design and evaluation.
• Experience working with hybrid apps for iOS android.
• Experience implementing production monitoring and observability (logs, metrics, tracing).
• Exposure to regulated and data-sensitive environments. Location and role type Full-time Sydney-based, in-office role. We work in a hybrid environment with minimum four days in our CBD office. Why Earnr We’re passionate about doing the right thing by our customers, and our people. Trust and integrity guide every decision, from our products to our codebase. In addition to the opportunity to join a high-growth organisation with a mandate to make a meaningful impact, you will enjoy:

• Performance based bonus
- it’s our policy to reward outperformance
• Equity options
- ensuring you have an ownership stake in the company’s substantial upside
