The Company Our client is undertaking a significant SAP transformation program and is seeking an experienced ABAP Development Lead to provide technical leadership across SAP development streams. This role offers the opportunity to work within a complex enterprise environment, delivering innovative solutions that support critical business outcomes. The Role As the ABAP Development Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of SAP ABAP and SAP HANA solutions. You will provide technical leadership, ensure development quality, collaborate with architects and functional consultants, and drive best-practice development standards across the program. Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of SAP ABAP developers across multiple delivery streams
• Design, develop, test and deploy SAP ABAP and SAP HANA solutions
• Deliver enhancements, reports, interfaces, workflows and integrations
• Conduct technical design reviews, code reviews and performance optimisation activities
• Translate business requirements into robust technical specifications
• Collaborate with functional consultants, architects and business stakeholders
• Support SAP upgrades, migrations and transformation initiatives
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex SAP development issues
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and adoption of modern SAP development practices
• Create and maintain technical documentation to support governance and operational requirements What We Need From You
• Extensive SAP ABAP development experience including:
• Object-Oriented ABAP
• Enhancements, User Exits and BAdIs
• BAPIs and ALE/IDoc integrations
• Strong SAP HANA development experience including:
• CDS Views
• AMDP
• SQLScript
• Performance optimisation
• Proven experience leading SAP development teams within complex enterprise environments
• Experience with SAP Gateway and OData Services
• Experience integrating SAP with cloud and external platforms
• Strong knowledge of SAP architecture and modules including FI, MM, SD and HR
• Experience with modern SAP development toolsets including ADT and CTS+
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills Ideally You Will Also Have
• Experience supporting S/4HANA migrations or greenfield implementations
• Exposure to SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)
• Experience with SAP Workflow Management and Integration Services
• Previous experience in Government or highly regulated environments
