The Yard WA is expanding rapidly and we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Used Car Buyer to join our team.

We currently carry 100+ vehicles in stock and buy and sell more than 50 vehicles every month, ranging from affordable daily drivers through to popular 4WDs, typically between $5,000 and $40,000.

We have our own mechanical workshop, an established sales operation and the capacity to continue growing. The stock is moving — we need the right buyer to help us acquire more of it.

This is a subcontractor role with a highly attractive commission structure and genuine $200,000+ annual earning potential for an experienced buyer who can consistently source the right vehicles at the right prices.

A drive car will be provided to the successful applicant.

The Role

Your primary responsibility is simple: source and buy profitable used vehicles for The Yard WA.

You will:

- Proactively source vehicles from private sellers, trade-ins and other available buying channels

- Appraise vehicles accurately based on condition, market value, reconditioning requirements and resale potential

- Negotiate directly with sellers and secure vehicles at commercially viable prices

- Identify quick-moving stock and buying opportunities in the market

- Inspect and assess potential purchases before acquisition

- Maintain accurate records of purchases and transactions

- Work closely with our sales and workshop teams

- Monitor market pricing, demand and changing used-car trends

- Consistently achieve purchasing and profitability targets

Who We're Looking For

You must have previous dealership experience buying used vehicles.

The ideal applicant will have:

- Minimum 2 years' proven experience in used-car buying/appraising within the motor industry

- Strong knowledge of the Perth used-car market





- Excellent vehicle appraisal and valuation skills

- Strong negotiation skills

- A good understanding of mechanical and cosmetic reconditioning costs

- The ability to identify desirable, profitable and fast-moving stock

- Confidence dealing directly with private sellers and trade-in customers

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills

- The ability to make quick, commercially sound purchasing decisions

- A strong work ethic and genuine hunger to earn

We are not looking for someone who needs to be taught how to buy cars from scratch. We are looking for someone who already understands the used-car business and wants the opportunity and earning potential to take their performance to the next level.
