- Work collaboratively with reach stacker operators, forklift operators, loading teams and terminal personnel to position wagons safely for loading and unloading.
- Maintain clear and accurate communication with locomotive drivers, terminal coordinators and relevant network personnel.
- Identify and report hazards, defects, incidents and near misses, contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Follow all applicable rail safety legislation, site procedures, safe working instructions and MEDLOG policies.
About you
You are a dependable and safety-driven operator who understands the importance of following procedures, communicating clearly and working as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
You will bring:
- A current Australian Class C driver's licence.
- A current Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) certificate.
- TLI23221 Certificate II in Shunting, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- The ability to obtain and maintain the required Category 1 Rail Medical clearance.
- The physical fitness and stamina required to walk across uneven rail ballast, safely access rolling stock and undertake hands-on duties throughout your shift.
- The ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
- A strong commitment to safe working practices, risk awareness and procedural compliance.
- Explicit verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams.
- The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Successful applicants will also be required to meet applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements and all relevant site access and employment conditions.
Desirable experience
The following will be highly regarded:
- A current Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card with relevant freight yard competencies.
- TLI32821 Certificate III in Rail Operations or an equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in freight rail, rail terminals, shunting or rolling stock operations.
