About the role
We are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to join Killen Trucking Co. based in our current Wodonga VIC Depot. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in the day-to-day operations of our transport business. As Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing our fleet operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction. This position is integral to our operational success and directly impacts our ability to meet customer commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Run all aspects of our daily operations while leading the ops team, including vehicle scheduling, route planning and driver allocation to ensure efficient service delivery
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations while working with our compliance team
- Coordinate with maintenance team with scheduling equipment servicing requirements
- Liaise with customers to coordinate deliveries, operational issues and ensure service is
- Prepare operational reports and present to senior management
- Respond to and resolve operational challenges
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in transport operations management
- In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, including National Heavy Vehicle Laws, Chain of Responsibility requirements and driver fatigue management legislation
- Proven experience managing fleet operations, including scheduling, maintenance coordination and performance monitoring
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with drivers, customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency in transport management systems and fleet tracking software; experience with relevant IT systems is desirable
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and organizational skills
