About the role

As a Maintenance Officer, you’ll be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of facilities and equipment at Ocean Gardens. This role is hands-on and diverse, encompassing building maintenance, preventative programs, and responding to repair requests. You’ll also supervise contractors, ensure compliance with safety standards, and help maintain the high-quality living setting our residents deserve.

As a Maintenance Officer, you will:

- Deliver high-quality maintenance services across the village, ensuring buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds are maintained to a safe and professional standard.
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance, including repairs, painting, minor refurbishments, and general property improvements.
- Maintain and test the village swimming pool and ensure the safe storage and handling of chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and colleagues.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors and specialist trades, ensuring all work meets required standards and specifications.
- Oversee the servicing and maintenance of village vehicles and equipment, including utes, buggies, tractors, tools, and machinery.




- Maintain accurate maintenance records and support the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and processes.
- Implement and promote workplace health, safety, and risk management practices across the site.
- Build positive relationships with residents and team members, treating everyone with respect, dignity, and professionalism.
- Support organisational values, policies, procedures, training initiatives, and other duties as required.

About you

Essential Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience in building maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive resident relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.




- Basic computer skills with the ability to use digital systems and maintain records.
- Ability to meet pre-employment medical requirements and be assessed as fit for duty.
- Current and valid driver's licence.
- Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Criteria:

- Previous experience in a similar role.
