5d ago , from Department of Education & Training Victoria

Myrrhee Primary School is a small rural school dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities for every student. Located in the majestic Myrrhee Valley, approximately 40 minutes from Benalla and Wangaratta and on the doorstep of the renowned King Valley, the school is surrounded by natural bushland which forms an integral part of the learning environment.

We have high expectations for our students, with a solid emphasis on student learning and growth. Teaching and learning at Myrrhee Primary School is grounded in evidence-based practice aligned with the science of learning. Literacy is delivered through Promoting Literacy Development (PLD), a structured synthetic phonics program, with students learning through explicit teaching in reading, writing and spelling. Mathematics is taught through the Explicit Mathematics Program.

The school provides a high staff-to-student ratio, with Education Support staff working alongside teachers to support student learning, engagement and wellbeing. The successful applicant will join a collaborative team and play an important role in providing Special Learning Needs Support, delivering targeted assistance to students and supporting teachers to implement personalised learning strategies. Student data is used consistently to inform teaching and intervention.

Student wellbeing is central to school practice. Programs include weekly "Making Monday Mindful" sessions, which incorporate cooking, gardening, building and health activities. Students also participate in weekly bushwalks, with the natural environment playing an active role in supporting wellbeing.

Students benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities,

including outdoor education programs, physical education, AUSLAN, music, and access to visiting art and library services. As part of the King Valley Cluster, students participate in inter-school activities, camps and sporting events, and staff share professional learning with colleagues across the cluster.

Myrrhee Primary School prides itself on strong partnerships with families and the wider community and fosters a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child is known, valued and supported to achieve success.
