Newcastle Earthworks Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced
Excavator/Posi track operator
to join our team on a
full-time basis
in Newcastle NSW. This is a key operational role that involves the skilled operation of heavy plant and machinery on construction and earthworks projects. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavators and tracked loaders, contributing directly to the successful completion of our projects. This is a hands‐on position where your expertise and attention to detail will be essential to maintaining our high standards of workmanship and safety.
Key responsibilities
Operate excavators, posi track loaders, dozers and wheel loaders safely and efficiently on construction and earthworks sites
Perform pre‐operation inspections and maintenance checks on plant and machinery to ensure they are in good working order
Follow site safety protocols and work in compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and company safety procedures
Communicate effectively with site supervisors, machine operators and other team members to ensure smooth coordination of work activities
Operate machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications and load capacities
Maintain accurate records of plant operation and any issues that arise during work
Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment
Assist with general site duties as required to support project completion
What we're looking for
Current Heavy Plant Operator Licence (Cat 1) or equivalent qualifications endorsed for excavator and tracked loader operation
Minimum 3 years' experience operating excavators, posi track loaders, dozers and wheel loaders in a construction or earthworks environment
Demonstrated knowledge of plant and machinery safety,
including pre‐operation checks and maintenance procedures
Proficiency in reading site plans and understanding construction methodologies
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
A commitment to safety and a proven track record of working incident‐free
Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Reliability and punctuality
A valid HR driver's licence minimum
HC licence advantageous
Experience with site inductions and willingness to complete training as required
