The Senior Environmental Officer will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role and be capable of implementing policies, procedures and programs that both educate the community and assist Council to protect and enhance the local environment.

Key Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health or Science
A minimum of five year's experience in the monitoring and inspection of premises to ensure compliance with Public Health and Environmental Standards
Demonstrated ability to prepare warning letters, notices, orders and Penalty Infringement Notices under various Acts
Demonstrated capacity to provide specialist technical advice in the assessment of development applications relevant to Environmental Health
Solid working knowledge of the Food Act ****, Public Health Act ****, Local Government Act **** and associated regulations




Ability and experience in the mentoring and supervision of staff
Advance written and verbal communication and customer service skills
Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Organised and committed to continuously improving systems, procedures and policies
Demonstrated experience in providing timely and technically sound advice to staff, businesses and the community in environmental health matters
Intermediate user of MS Office applications, Mitti (iAuditor), Intramaps and industry specific programs
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of various IT hardware for both office and field based applications
Willingness to work outside of ordinary business hours to complete inspections when required

Salary:$1,****** to $1,****** per week (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) plus superannuation and a leaseback vehicle
Position Status:Permanent - Full Time
Hours of work:35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
