The Opportunity
We are working with an established Australian technology company that is making a significant investment into its DevOps and infrastructure capability.
The business operates a substantial privately managed infrastructure environment and is currently going through a major modernisation program, with a strong focus on
Kubernetes, containerisation and automation
.
This role will sit between traditional infrastructure and up-to-date Platform/DevOps engineering. You'll work across Linux and bare-metal infrastructure while helping the business continue its move towards a more containerised, automated operating model.
There is also significant investment going into
AI
, with the DevOps team responsible for building and operating the underlying infrastructure and platform capabilities that will allow AI to be introduced across the company's product environment.
What You'll Be Working On
Building, administering and improving
Kubernetes environments
Supporting the continued adoption of
containerised infrastructure
Managing and improving
Linux-based private cloud and bare-metal environments
Automating infrastructure, deployments and operational processes using
Python and Bash
Building and improving
CI/CD pipelines
across GitLab, GitHub and Bitbucket
Using
Ansible and/or Puppet
for configuration management and infrastructure automation
Working across servers, networking, storage and virtualisation
Supporting complex, multi-component application and platform deployments
Helping reduce reliance on traditional VMware-based infrastructure
Improving deployment processes with the goal of moving from lengthy manual deployments towards highly automated delivery
Supporting the infrastructure and platform capabilities required for future
AI workloads and applications
Taking ownership of technical challenges and contributing to the continued development of the wider DevOps function
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will come from a
Senior DevOps, Platform Engineering, Linux Infrastructure, Infrastructure Automation or SRE
background.
You'll ideally bring:
Robust hands-on
Kubernetes
experience within production environments
Experience administering Kubernetes itself, rather than solely deploying applications into managed clusters
Rancher
experience would be highly regarded
Exposure to
private cloud, bare-metal or internally managed infrastructure
Strong scripting and automation experience with
Python and/or Bash
CI/CD experience, ideally across
GitLab
, GitHub or Bitbucket
Configuration management experience with
Ansible and/or Puppet
Understanding of infrastructure across
servers, networking, storage and virtualisation
Experience supporting complex production environments
Ability to troubleshoot across both infrastructure and application/platform layers
A strong automation mindset and desire to remove repetitive manual processes
Who Will Do Well Here:
The team values
technical aptitude, attitude and ownership
over someone simply ticking every technology box.
You'll suit the environment if you're:
Hands-on and technically curious
Comfortable taking ownership and working autonomously
Someone who naturally looks for opportunities to automate
Happy working across both modern and traditional infrastructure
Keen to learn technologies outside your immediate area of expertise
Collaborative and willing to contribute to a growing engineering team
This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to the infrastructure layer but wants to be heavily involved in the shift towards
Kubernetes, automation, modern DevOps practices and AI-ready infrastructure
.
