About The Role
Your years of biochemistry expertise are in high demand — not just in the lab, but at the frontier of artificial intelligence. Alignerr partners with the world's leading AI research teams to build smarter, more accurate scientific models. We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to put those models to the test.
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About The Role
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your deep domain knowledge directly shapes how AI reasons about protein folding, metabolic pathways, enzyme kinetics, and more. No AI background required — your science is what matters.
What You'll Do
Design Challenging Problems — Construct advanced biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to probe the limits of AI reasoning.
Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific accuracy in AI outputs.
Audit AI Responses — Critically evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative analyses for scientific correctness and logical consistency.
Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document errors in AI thinking — such as flawed stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or incorrect mechanistic logic — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
PhD-level expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline (completed or in final stages)
Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, genomics, or bioinformatics
Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous setting
No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
Background in scientific writing, peer review, or academic publishing
Why Join Us
Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs
Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you
Flexible weekly commitment: ***** hours depending on your availability
Gain rare insight into how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
Freelance autonomy with the substance of high-impact scientific work
Potential for ongoing collaboration and contract extension
