About this role
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Finance Manager to join our Finance team at our Alexandria Head Office on a 12 month fixed term maternity leave contract.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for the integrity of the Group's financial reporting, month end and year end close, statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial controls. You will act as a key technical accounting resource, working closely with the Finance team and stakeholders across the business to deliver accurate, timely financial information and drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of key reporting and compliance activities within a dynamic retail business.
What you'll do
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring journals, accruals, reconciliations and reporting are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare and review monthly management reporting, financial analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare annual financial statements and supporting workpapers,
ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements.
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex matters, including leases, goodwill, impairment, fixed assets, inventory and revenue recognition.
- Coordinate interim and annual external audits, acting as the key Finance contact.
- Oversee GST and BAS compliance, deferred tax workings, income tax provisions and information for external tax advisers.
- Review cross-border and transfer pricing calculations, along with quarterly and annual ABS submissions.
- Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliations, including landed costs, stock adjustments, inventory ageing and provisioning.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting, systems, automation and internal controls.
- Manage and develop the Accountant, providing guidance, reviewing work and supporting their ongoing development.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide meaningful financial insights and support commercial decision-making.
Who you are
- CA or CPA qualified, with strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- Experienced in preparing statutory or general-purpose financial statements.
- Confident managing month-end close, reconciliations, audit requirements and tax compliance.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- An effective communicator who can work collaboratively with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
- A proactive and detail-oriented professional who takes ownership, identifies opportunities for improvement and delivers to deadlines.
- Experienced in leading, reviewing and developing the work of junior Finance team members.
- Retail ERP experience, ideally with STORIS or a comparable system, will be highly regarded.
- Experience with Concur, Adyen, a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm, and Copilot or AI agent implementation will be advantageous.
