You will work closely with our sales and operations teams to resolve queries and keep accounts moving.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and drive the timely collection of outstanding invoices.
- Make a high volume of outbound calls each day to follow up overdue accounts, and respond to customer queries by phone and email.
- Issue collection correspondence and statements in line with our credit control procedures.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve billing and payment disputes, working with the sales team where required.
- Receipt and allocate customer payments accurately and reconcile customer accounts.
- Monitor the aged debtors report, prioritise collection activity and provide regular reporting on debtor days, overdue balances and collection results.
- Maintain clear, accurate records of all collection activity and customer communications in our systems.
- Escalate problem accounts and recommend further action, including referral to external collection agencies, where required.
- Support month-end processes and assist the wider finance team as needed.
About you
- Previous experience in accounts receivable, credit control or collections, or a similar finance administration role.
- A confident, professional phone manner and the ability to hold firm but courteous conversations about overdue accounts.
- Excellent written communication skills for customer correspondence.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Capable with other software products, including accounting and ERP systems and CRM platforms, and able to pick up new systems quickly.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
- A persistent, results-focused approach to collections with a solid sense of accountability and urgency.
- The ability to handle difficult conversations while maintaining positive customer relationships.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Sound understanding of credit control practices and accounts receivable processes.
Benefits
- A flexible work environment, with the role available full-time or four days per week.
- A permanent position within an established and growing business.
- A supportive finance team and a manager who will invest in your development.
- Modern systems and tools, with the autonomy to manage your portfolio and see the results of your work.
