About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

Funds in Court

Funds in Court [FIC] is a discrete, self-funded, administrative division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

FIC assists the Senior Master, who is an Associate Judge of the Court, in administering and investing funds in Court for people who are under a legal disability. A person is under a legal disability if he or she is under 18 years old, or has an intellectual or physical disability, or both.

Funds may be awarded by the County Court, Magistrates' Court or the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). People who have money administered by the Senior Master are referred to as "clients" of the Court.

The Senior Master becomes the "legal owner" of the funds, holding them in trust for people who do not have capacity to manage their own affairs. The staff at FIC provide a range of services to support the Senior Master and the administration of funds.

About the role The Administrative Support Officer is a member of the Client Services Team and is accountable for providing quality customer service, project and operational support for the effective administration of funds paid into Court for persons under a legal disability.

This role coordinates administrative functions across the Client Services section of FIC. The position reports to the Director Client Services via the Team Leader.

- Coordinating administrative functions across Client Services for persons under disability, as delegated by the Team Leader and/or Director Client Services.
- Providing operational support to Client Services Officers with the preparation of correspondence and other documentation, such as Court Orders and Memoranda.
- Preparing and presenting quality reports and statistics; maintaining proper documentation and creating and maintaining databases or reporting systems.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the procedural and practical requirements of the Senior Master (who is an Associate Judge), as they impact upon the administration of funds in Court for persons under disability.
- Effectively dealing with a range of clients who may display challenging behaviours, such as persons with an acquired brain injury, or those presenting with very sensitive issues such as young persons who have been victims of crime.

About you

- Demonstrated experience providing administrative or operational support.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, skilled, customer focussed, administrative services.
- Ability to maintain a high-level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience in the trustee industry would be highly regarded.
