Westgate Labs is a NATA accredited Australian Laboratory in the Horticulture, environmental, veterinary and food safety industries for analytical laboratory services in the areas of soil, water, pathology/microbiology, residue, veterinary and environmental testing along with Research and Development of chemicals.
Reporting to key personnel, you will provide on-site analytical testing and preparation within our Laboratory. You will ensure the safe and productive running of our laboratory operation and perform a range of analytical tests.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As an analytical chemist you will be required to:
- Perform sample preparation and testing procedures under the guidance of our Laboratory Manager.
- Patulin testing in Apples and Pear juices and purees weekly.
- Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments with a high degree of precision.
- Maintain calibration records, analytical results, test reports, and maintenance records for NATA and OECD GLP compliance.
- Safely operate plant sampling stations within the Laboratory.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
As the successful candidates, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, B.SC in chemistry (or other scientific streams)
or extensive experience in a similar role in a laboratory accredited to ISO 17025 and OECD GLP standard will be highly regarded.
- Proficient computer software literacy.
- Ability to create analytical reports SOP’s and methods.
- Skills with the following instruments are essential:
- LC/MS and GC/MS
- UHPLC
- ICP-OES and Spectrophotometer’s
- Auto titrators
- LC
