About the role The Corporate Moose is seeking enthusiastic and passionate Apprentice Chefs to join our agile culinary team in Mildura, VIC. This is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career in the hospitality and tourism industry with a full-time apprenticeship that combines practical, hands-on kitchen experience with formal training. As an Apprentice Chef, you will work alongside experienced culinary professionals to develop foundational cooking skills, learn food safety practices, and gain exposure to cooking techniques.

This role is perfect for individuals who are eager to learn, demonstrate dedication to their craft, and aspire to build a long-term career in professional cooking.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting senior chefs with food preparation, including chopping, dicing, marinating and portioning of ingredients

- Learning and practising fundamental cooking techniques under supervision and guidance

- Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and food safety compliance

- Setting up and organising workstations and cooking stations efficiently

- Helping to prepare dishes according to established recipes and plating standards

- Operating kitchen equipment safely and appropriately, including ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking appliances

- Supporting the kitchen team during service, including dishwashing, stock rotation and waste management

- Attending formal training sessions and completing required apprenticeship coursework

- Receiving feedback from experienced chefs and continuously improving culinary skills





- Assisting with menu development and tasting sessions as directed

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for cooking and the hospitality industry

- Willingness to learn and commitment to completing a formal culinary apprenticeship

- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work effectively as part of a team

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and kitchen hygiene standards

- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and cope with the demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment

- Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude towards work

- Good communication skills and the ability to take constructive feedback positively

- No prior professional cooking experience required, but enthusiasm and dedication are essential

- A willingness to work unsociable hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required in the hospitality sector
