If you’re an experienced board member who is passionate about housing security, mental health, human rights and social justice, you may very well be!

IRASI* is funded by the Qld Government to provide tenancy and mental health advocacy services to people living in the Ipswich, Lockyer, Scenic Rim and Somerset local government areas.

We support people in upholding their human and legal rights related to housing, homelessness and mental health. We employ a person-centred approach to assist the most vulnerable and marginalised people to make informed decisions about their lives.

We are seeking a new president to lead our organisation and chair our skilled management committee (board) from 19 November 2026, the date of our AGM. This is a volunteer / unpaid role.

The management committee meets quarterly, mostly by Teams. Additional meetings may be required at times. You will engage regularly with Service Management.

You will play a key role in providing leadership, governance and advocacy, working alongside our management committee, staff, members and community partners to ensure people experiencing rental tenancy difficulties and mental health challenges are heard, supported and treated with dignity.





Key focus areas over the next 12-18 months will be working with Service Management and the management committee to develop our strategy and advocate for additional funding sources and renewal of our current contracts.

Experience with not-for-profit governance is an essential requirement, as is passion for our community. Chair experience and experience in relevant sectors and advocacy will be well regarded.
