About The National

About the role

Working alongside our venue management team, you’ll help lead service and keep the venue day to day running smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include

- Leading shifts, delegating tasks and coordinating staff breaks.

- Opening and closing the venue, handling cash and completing end-of-shift procedures.

- Delivering welcoming, attentive service across the bar, dining areas and functions.

- Maintaining stock levels, venue presentation and operational standards.

- Upholding RSA, liquor licensing and workplace safety requirements.

- Supporting a positive,



inclusive environment for staff and guests.

This is a hands on role, with plenty of time behind the bar and on the floor alongside your team.

Who we’re looking for

- At least two years’ bartending experience in busy venues with high service standards.

- Previous supervisory experience, or clear readiness to take on more responsibility.

- Strong cocktail-making skills and positive knowledge of beer, wine and coffee service.

- An understanding of stock control, wastage and beverage costs.

- Clear communication skills and the confidence to guide a team during busy service.

- Confidence using POS systems and handling cash.

- Attention to detail and a calm, practical approach to problem-solving.

- A genuine interest in food, drinks and hospitality, with a willingness to learn and take ownership.

- A current Victorian RSA certificate and Australian work rights.

Availability for evenings, weekends and some public holidays is essential.
