About the role

Provide friendly customer service and consistently prepared coffee and beverages at the MOWFC café. Support daily operations through opening and closing, food service, retail meal sales, cash handling, cleaning and safe food handling. Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers and promote Meals on Wheels Fraser Community services.

Key responsibilities

- Open the premises and complete safety and cleanliness checks and the opening checklist
- Start and check coffee equipment; adjust the grinder and check coffee quality
- Check and record fridge and freezer temperatures; report readings outside approved limits
- Prepare coffee and other beverages to recipes and customer requests
- Receive food prepared offsite; check packaging, dates, condition and required temperatures
- Display and serve supplied food; toast approved items using the sandwich press
- Follow allergen procedures and check labels; seek guidance rather than guessing
- Complete closing checklist, clean equipment, reconcile Square and cash drawer, and secure takings

About you





- Practical skills in espresso coffee preparation, milk texturing and protected use of café equipment
- Friendly communication and customer service skills
- Reliability, honesty and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently and with staff and volunteers
- Basic numeracy, cash handling and POS skills
- Ability to perform standing, cleaning and manual handling duties safely, with reasonable adjustments where required
- Practical barista skills and knowledge of safe food handling
- Willingness to complete MOWFC induction and required training
- Previous café or barista experience
- Barista and food safety training (desirable)
