Where industry intelligence is going next, and who’s building it For over five decades, the world’s most sophisticated institutions have relied on IBISWorld to navigate uncertainty, identify opportunity and stay ahead of change. Banks, consulting firms, governments: when the stakes are high and the answer has to be right, they come to us.
That trust is our legacy, and it’s our starting point. We’re advancing beyond traditional research into AI-enabled, actionable intelligence, embedding human-verified insight directly into the workflows our clients live in so they can see further and decide faster. The ground is shifting in our industry, and we are the ones moving it.
You’d be joining at the most exciting moment to do so.
Why this role, right now
We’re investing heavily in our revenue teams in Australia, raising the bar on how we hire, how we develop our people, and what great looks like. We’re building a team with real momentum, real accountability, and the kind of culture people don’t want to leave.
You’ll split your time between growing a book of clients, including our Chinese client base, and opening doors with new ones. You’ll protect and grow ARR, start the conversations that become new business, and be the advisor your clients call first. You’ll get real responsibility from day one, with the coaching to back it up.
If you’re early in your career and ready to grow faster than your current role allows, this is the one to look at.
What you’ll do
- Own the end-to-end client experience for your book, from onboarding through to renewal
- Renew and grow your book, owning retention and closing upsell and cross-sell across existing accounts
- Open doors with new clients, including Chinese organisations, by prospecting, running discovery calls and qualifying opportunities
- Work alongside our sales team to turn the opportunities you create into new clients, learning the full sales cycle up close
- Build commercial relationships across each account,
including with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders, and gather the value stories that drive retention and shape what we build next
- Be the first port of call for client questions on product and solutions, pulling in the right internal teams to get answers back fast
- Become an expert in IBISWorld’s product portfolio and research methodology, so you can talk data with confidence in any room
What success looks like
Commercial growth: You deliver on both sides of the role: renewals and growth from your book, and a steady flow of recent opportunities from clients you’ve opened up yourself.
Customer success: Your clients get the outcomes they wanted from working with us. You’re the dedicated resource who makes sure of it.
Product expertise: You’re the product expert in front of clients. You show them the value of what we offer and feed their feedback and market demand back into the business.
Solution consultation: You bring ideas, not just answers. You understand what a client is trying to achieve and recommend insights and strategies that move their project forward.
Who thrives here
We hire for culture as deliberately as we hire for capability, and we’re specific about it. The people who do their best work at IBISWorld:
- Hold a high bar for the quality of their own work, without being asked to.
- Make decisions with the customer’s experience as the top priority.
- Stay honest and transparent, even when the news is hard to deliver.
- Stay curious, pursuing learning, experimentation, and continual growth.
- Build genuine teamwork and collaborate by default.
- Question assumptions and look for evidence before making decisions.
- Stay calm under pressure and steady the team through any setbacks.
If you read that list and recognise yourself, we should talk.
What you’ll bring
- Some experience in sales, business development, account management or client services is preferred, but we care more about attitude than years
- A track record of hitting targets, at work, university or anywhere you’ve been measured
- Comfort picking up the phone to someone who doesn’t know you yet, and the resilience to keep going when they say no
- Communication skills that land, written, verbal and in front of a room
- The confidence to present to a large audience without breaking a sweat
- Curiosity about different industries, and comfort engaging with clients from a wide range of backgrounds
- Sharp organisational instincts, and the ability to juggle competing deadlines without dropping the ball
- A team-first mindset, happy to pull in other departments to get the right outcome for the client
- The independence to run your own patch without someone checking in every five minutes
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word, plus Salesforce or another CRM (a plus)
- Fluency in Mandarin (a strong advantage, as you’ll manage Chinese accounts)
The offer
This is a role that pays for performance. You’ll carry a real book with room to grow, and a commission structure built to reward the people who grow it.
Beyond the numbers, you’ll get coaching from a team investing in how it develops its people, a team that holds the same standards and values you do, and the backing of a 50-year brand the world’s biggest institutions already trust before you’ve said a word.
Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.
We’re not interested in building an average team. If that’s the kind of place you’ve been looking for, bring the bar. We’ll meet it.
